Join concert photographers MAURICIO CASTRO, CINA NGUYEN, KRYSTINA BROWN, and TUAN NGUYEN to learn the ins and outs of shooting live music. How did they break into the business? How did they develop their skill? What gear and software do they use? What's their editing workflow? What are their favorite Lightroom tricks? How do they get the "perfect" shot? What is good pit etiquette? What are the dos and don'ts of the business? What are their favorite shooting moments? You will get answers to all of these questions and more on March 8th.

You know the guy that is always covering that hyped-about concert or event and always telling others about it? If you didn't know one already, I might know a guy...You can find a majority of my concert photos and music-related posts at ChunkyGlasses.com, a music website and podcast based out of DC. I love catching fleeting moments of musicians in the moment and sharing them with the world. I've been lucky enough to cover a diverse range of musicians like Ed Sheeran, Arcade Fire, Young Thug, Tycho, and Run the Jewels ranging from large arenas and festivals all the way to DIY shows in peoples' basements and living rooms. Outside of concerts, I love documenting all of the places, people, and things that bring us all together in one place. I've shot events for NPR, CreativeMornings/DC, Sofar Sounds, and the Cathedral Choral Society, and my photos have also appeared in Rolling Stone Magazine, the Washington Post, Today.com and Current.Â
From March 11-18, U Street Music Hall will present 10 can't-miss shows in celebration of the venue's eighth birthday. The packed schedule, which features hometown heroes like Trouble Funk, Oddisee, and more, feature artists that span genres from electronic and dance to hip-hop, to homegrown genres like go-go and moombahton, at three venues across the city.
